Scrutiny.ai

Scrutiny.AI is a linter for court filings — it checks your writ petition draft against the High Court's formatting rules and flags every defect that would get it rejected at the registry, before you file it.

About the Project

Every year, advocates lose days to registry objections over technical defects: a margin 1cm too narrow, a missing verification, a scanned PDF without a text layer. Scrutiny.AI catches those defects on the advocate's desk instead. Built for the High Court of Kerala's e-filing workflow, it runs a deterministic validation engine over writ petition PDFs, checking page geometry, typography, printed pagination, mandatory section structure, and e-filing readiness against a versioned, rule-cited ruleset. Results appear in a split-screen dashboard with the document on the left and categorized defects on the right, each with the rule citation and one-click navigation to the offending page, and exportable as a defect sheet for clerks. Documents are processed entirely in memory and never stored. With the registry's own Standard Checklist pilot now live, the tool puts the same scrutiny on the advocate's side of the counter.

Practice Areas

Key Features

Deterministic compliance engine — validates writ petition PDFs against 10 rules across e-filing readiness (file size, text-searchability), page geometry (A4 size, 4cm/1.5cm margins), typography (font size), printed pagination, and mandatory section structure (Synopsis, Memorandum, Grounds, Prayer, Verification, Affidavit, Vakalatnama). Rule-cited, auditable defects — every finding cites the exact provision (e.g., HC Rules 1971, R.35(1)) alongside the measured value versus the required value. No black-box verdicts. Split-screen defect dashboard — the petition renders on the left, categorized defects on the right; clicking any defect jumps the PDF viewer to the offending page. Exportable defect sheet — a printable report for advocate clerks, styled after registry objection memos, stamped with the ruleset version used. Zero-retention processing — documents are parsed entirely in memory and never written to disk or logs, protecting client confidentiality. Versioned, swappable ruleset — rules live in a JSON configuration, so the engine tracks the court's official Standard Checklist updates without code changes. Transparent by design — reports show which checks ran and which were skipped, and the tool explicitly states results are advisory, not a substitute for registry scrutiny.
