About the Project

Retail Rights is a mobile app that helps retail and frontline workers understand their workplace rights in simple language. The app covers 10 topics, including breaks, pay, overtime, scheduling, time off, health and safety, discrimination, termination, unions, and rights for teen workers.

Each topic explains the right in easy-to-understand terms and includes simple steps workers can take if they think their rights have been violated.

The reason I chose to work on this project is because I have personally seen how some retail managers take advantage of workers who do not know their rights. Many retail workers are young people or migrants who may not always be aware of workplace laws. Because of this, I wanted to make sure the information in the app was written in simple English so that it is easy for everyone to understand.

Practice Areas

Key Features

The bookmark feature allows users to save important workplace rights that are most relevant to them. Instead of searching through the app every time, workers can quickly access the information they need in one place. This is especially useful during stressful situations, such as disputes about pay, breaks, or unfair treatment, when users may need information quickly. The saved rights are stored on the device, making them easy to return to later and helping users stay informed about the issues that matter most to them.
