Every matter teaches a lawyer something, and every tool they use forgets it. Nous is built to fix that. Hand it a brief and Kit does the junior's first pass: the list of dates, the preliminary research, the summary of the dispute and the grounds taken, with every line pinned to its page in the bundle. What you check and accept goes into Lex, your own library of the law, which connects it to everything you have worked on before.Lex watches for new judgments that bear on your matters and opens each one at the paragraph that counts. Graham, the third faculty, reads each new brief against that library and tells you where you argued the opposite last year, before the other side finds it. Other tools forget your reasoning when the session or matter ends. With Nous it stays, it belongs to you, and it grows with every case you argue.

Key Features
Kit: the work
- List of dates and events built from the full brief or paper book, with each entry pinned to its page.
- Source view: click any entry to open the page with the relevant line highlighted.
- Summary of the dispute and grounds taken, drawn from the pleadings and the record.
- Preliminary research, drawing on your existing library before anything else.
- Checks built in, such as limitation computed from the relevant dates.
- A deliberate stop at the grounds. Kit drafts nothing beyond them. Lex: the law
- Your own library of judgments, statutes, commentaries and the propositions you draw from them.
- Connections across matters and practice areas, showing what supports, opposes, or cites each proposition.
- Verification gate: nothing enters Lex until you have checked and accepted it.
- Watch on new law: judgments and amendments are checked against what you hold and your live matters.
- Paragraph pointing: Lex opens a judgment at the paragraph that matters and never summarises it.
- Retrieval of your own past reasoning: what you concluded, which authority you relied on, and in which matter. Graham: the test
- Reads each live brief against your whole library.
- Flags contradictions with positions you have taken before.
- Finds the weak ground, the gap in the record and the point the other side will take.
- Accept, modify or dismiss every suggestion. Modify lets you rewrite it in your own words.
- Suggestions only. Nothing changes unless you say so. Across the product
- Matters and knowledge kept apart: client facts stay inside the matter, and only verified law crosses into Lex.
- Account owned by the lawyer, not the chambers or firm. It travels with you when you move.
- Full export of your library and original documents at any time.
- Confidentiality by design: no training on briefs, regional hosting, and zero retention by model providers. These are planned commitments, not yet built.
Help Needed
A technical co-founder. The product design and the legal workflow are settled. I need a builder who wants equity and has worked on document processing, OCR or search over long, messy PDFs. Feedback from practising lawyers. Pilot chambers or firms. I'm looking for one or two to test Kit on closed briefs under a confidentiality agreement, with your junior's work as the benchmark. Launch jurisdictions are England & Wales, Northern Ireland, Ireland and India. A challenge to build against. If a Vibeathon or similar is coming up, I'd like to enter Nous. Pointers welcome. Introductions. I'd value conversations with anyone who has sold software to chambers or law firms, or who works with the partner companies here.
