About the Project

“Clerky” is a legal technology tool designed to alleviate the pains that come with filing, clearing defectings, getting matters listed, and obtaining certified copies by connecting you to a network of experienced court clerks.

At present, dispute lawyers at law firms and independent practising counsel spend far too much time in performing repetitive clerical tasks attached to court systems and their registries (administrative department). These tasks are often time sensitive and require local knowledge, physical presence and familiarity with court processes. Finding a reliable person for these tasks can be difficult, particularly when the lawyer or firm is working across multiple jurisdictions.

Clerky creates a structured network of verified professionals who can be engaged for specific court tasks. Lawyers can submit a task, identify the relevant court or jurisdiction, track its progress and receive evidence of completion. Partners are verified before they can accept tasks, while task status, communication and proof of completion are recorded through the platform.

The objective is to create a reliable last mile infrastructure layer for legal work, allowing lawyers to manage court operations remotely without having to rely entirely on informal networks or repeated phone calls.

Key Features

Verified Court Professionals Clerky connects lawyers with court clerks, filing professionals and legal runners whose identity, professional details and relevant court experience can be verified before they accept tasks. On Demand Court Tasks Lawyers can request specific physical tasks such as filing documents, collecting orders, obtaining certified copies, checking records and completing procedural follow ups at courts, tribunals and commissions. Multi Court and Jurisdiction Support Clerky is designed to operate across courts, tribunals and commissions, allowing lawyers to access local professionals even when they are not physically present in that jurisdiction. Real-Time Task Tracking Each task can be tracked from booking through arrival and completion, giving the lawyer visibility over its status and expected completion. Task-Specific Communication Lawyers and assigned professionals can communicate through a dedicated task channel, keeping instructions, updates and clarifications linked to the particular assignment. Proof of Completion Tasks conclude with supporting evidence and a completion note. This gives the instructing lawyer a record of what was done before the task is closed and payment is released.

Help Needed

Clerky is currently at the MVP and validation stage. Our next step is to move from a working demonstration to real-world validation across courts and jurisdictions. To get this off the ground we would want support and collaboration, some of which are as follows: Launching a Pilot: We are looking for law firms and individual lawyers willing to use Clerky for real court related tasks across different jurisdictions. Early users will help us understand which tasks are most frequently outsourced and where the platform provides the greatest value. Verified and Trusted Court Clerks: We need to build an initial network of reliable court clerks, filing professionals and legal runners across key courts, tribunals and commissions. We would particularly benefit from introductions to professionals, and clerk associations with established experience in specific court jurisdictions. Court and Jurisdiction Specific Knowledge Base: Different courts have different filing procedures, document requirements and operational practices. Guidance from practitioners familiar with these processes would help us build reliable, jurisdiction specific workflows. Early Institutional Partners and Collaborators: We are interested in partnering with law firms, legal departments, litigation practices and legal organisations that can help pilot Clerky across multiple jurisdictions and provide feedback on how it can integrate into existing legal workflows.
