About the Project

Co · Counsel works alongside the lawyer to assist the lawyer in translating complex legal memos to be read by the ultimate client

Currently, other AI legal tools take a document and spit out a fully generated response or email; however, this approach neglects to involve the lawyer during one of the most crucial steps: summarizing and analyzing. Depending on the AI, this can lead to missteps in responses or hallucinations. Ironically, this often increases a lawyer's workload; you end up having to read the memo by yourself anyway, and you then have to decipher the “jumble” of generated text the AI gave you because ultimately it’s just finding sentences that are syntactically similar to one another.

Co · Counsel keeps the lawyer in the loop. We want the lawyer and the AI to work conjunctively. Instead of the AI reading the whole memo and shooting that answer, it summarizes and analyzes each part alongside you, allowing you to edit, refine, or course-correct its logic in real time. The AI will spot discrepancies and point those out to you, for which you confirm or deny those suggestions. You retain total control of the narrative, translating a dense memo into a coherent draft without losing the key details. Ultimately, Co-Counsel drafts a final email based on the specific notes and sections you actively worked on together, prioritizing your own written insights. By reviewing section by section, you are essentially building the "ultimate prompt." You know exactly where the AI pulled its information from, resulting in a highly precise, ready-to-send brief for your client, a junior lawyer, or a senior partner.

Key Features

Key Features

Targeted Audience Outputs: Before you even attach a file, you select whether the final brief is meant for a client, a juror, or a senior attorney. You can even easily switch the audience to a junior or senior attorney at the very end.

Claude Legal Plugin Support: Powered by Claude Legal on the back end, you can specify your exact practice area so the AI is fine-tuned to your specific needs.

Sequential Section-by-Section Review: The AI breaks the memo down into distinct sections and presents them in exact order so you can read along naturally.

Color-Coded Annotations: Highlight important facts and figures directly in the text using yellow, green, or pink.

Interactive Drafting: Use the "Self Draft" feature to allow you to write your own thoughts and ideas alongside the text.

AI Editing & Suggestions: If you use the "add on suggestions" feature, the AI will underline, greenlight, or cross out parts of your draft, allowing you to easily confirm or reject its changes.

Summaries: Hit the "Summarize" button to generate a summary that pulls exclusively from the specific section you are looking at, complete with relevant quotes. You can edit the AI's thoughts, and it will be logged.

Analysis: The "Analyze" button acts like a junior assistant or secretary, providing deeper analysis and ideas to add on rather than just a routine summary. You can edit the AI's thoughts, and it will be logged.

Contextual Memory & Discrepancy Detection: As you move through the document, the AI uses the context from your previous sections to build the structure with you. It actively finds and flags discrepancies in the text, such as conflicting deadlines, so you can address them immediately.

Custom Compiled Drafts: Once you finish, Co-Counsel drafts a document based strictly on the notes and sections you actively worked with and confirms
