About the Project

A legal memo isn't a document to be simplified. It's an event that sets off a chain of internal actions.

When a General Counsel receives a memo from external counsel, the real work begins; mapping who in the organisation needs to know something, translating complex legal analysis into audience-specific communications, and tracking what's been sent, what's been responded to, and what's outstanding. In-house teams spend hours doing this translation manually, across email and spreadsheets.

Ally orchestrates that workflow. The memo arrives. Ally identifies which stakeholders are implicated and why. The GC adjusts the map: adding or removing stakeholders with one click. Ally generates a purpose-built communication for each audience, in the right format and tone — a decision brief for the CEO, a compliance checklist for HR, Slack-style bullets for Technology, a deadline-led action list for Procurement.

Each output includes a dispatch button — Email for senior stakeholders, Slack for operational ones.

The GC stays in the chair making decisions. Ally does the workflow between decisions.

Practice Areas

Key Features

Memo ingestion with Commander's Brief. Every memo is distilled into three lines: the decision, the deadline, and the worst case. No reading required to orientate.

Intelligent stakeholder mapping. Ally identifies which of 12 standard in-house stakeholders are implicated by the memo and why. The GC can add or remove stakeholders with one click before generating outputs.

Audience-specific translation. Each stakeholder gets a purpose-built communication in their format and tone. The CEO gets a two-paragraph decision brief. HR gets a compliance checklist. Technology gets Slack-style action bullets. The Board gets a one-page risk assessment.

Dispatch logic built in. Email for senior stakeholders, Slack for operational ones. Every output includes a send button.

Non-implicated stakeholder handling. if a stakeholder is not engaged by the memo, Ally tells the GC clearly. The GC can still generate an awareness note for CEO or Board even when the memo doesn't directly concern them.

Help Needed

Open to feedback from in-house counsel and GCs on workflow accuracy and stakeholder mapping. If you work in an in-house legal team and want to stress-test Ally against a real memo, get in touch.
